For a number of years Seminyak was the suburb of choice for Bali’s expatriate community (who first escaped from Kuta to Legian, and then from Legian to Seminyak as the tourists encroached inexorably up the coast).
Recently, the area has seen significant commercial development, which in turn has led to escalating property prices. This has resulted in some expatriates choosing to move further out of town.
However, Seminyak continues to be one of the island’s most popular choices for discerning holidaymakers.
